1. You Got Love

You Got Love

"You Got Love" is Upstairs Open's debut. The genre-defying mix of natural and electronic tones is threaded through with male/female vocal strands that twirl in symbiosis – it's not a duet, far from it. Courtney explains explaining that a mutual love of contrasts has given rise to their own signature sound, and both she and Daniel describe this introduction as a “balance” that draws each corner of Upstairs Open together – it's a vital piece of their puzzle, and the first taste of a debut EP that's being readied for release in the near future.

2. Upstairs Open - Chicago

Upstairs Open - Chicago

Stream here: https://upstairsopen.lnk.to/Chicago 'Chicago' was the first song Upstairs Open wrote together after meeting up in Daniel's South London flat for weekly sessions, revelling in the organic, restraint-free nature of working sans external pressures. Born from a mutual love of contrasts, ‘Chicago' encapsulates their own signature sound, which Indie Shuffle describes as having, 'an ethereal quality… with the melding of organic and electronic instruments contrasting the duo's gorgeous harmonies.’ ‘Chicago' is haunting and moody, and centres on loss and longing, where “although two people are together, they can see what they have very differently, and it’s about coming to terms with that”. As one of the busiest airports in the world, and an international gateway to much of the American mid-west, the track takes inspiration from the ideas of crossing lands, and the struggles that arise from physical and emotional distance.

Nestled in the cosy surrounds of Revolver Upstairs, the weekly party unfolds over two rooms and many hours with an impressively diverse selection of talented local and touring DJs. Musically things progress from the early evening mellow soundtrack to diners at Revolver's renowned restaurant Colonel Tan's, through a self assured path of disco, boogie and afro beats on the way to Revolver's well known morning house in the back bar, while the front room kicks into action not long after midnight with cutting edge upfront bass driven sounds. The atmosphere has long helped develop and nurture some of Melbourne's most talented artists, both behind the decks and in their production endeavors outside of the club night. Over the years The Late Show has released several production packages including the highly sought after Disco Edits volumes 1 and 2, plus the forward thinking TLS USB drives. Finally this year we have completed a 100% artist compilation, comprised entirely of original material submitted by producers directly associated with The Late Show. The Compilation itself attempts to recreate the full musical gamut of the club night, from early soulful cuts to authentic disco and midnight boogie and on to upfront late night bass-lines. Artists including Crackpot, Inverto, Disco Harry, Booshank, Oss 3000, Planet Jumper, Paz, T-Rek and Mike Callander, DJ Crater aka Mr Moonshine, Lewis Cancut, Mat Cant, Nick Thayer and Spinfx all have something on there.
