Sonia Aimy is all about movement; it’s in her voice, performance and modus operandi for life. The Italian-African-Canadian Afro Jazz and Folk singer is a progressive, innovative artist in an emerging world music scene in Toronto (and abroad!) that blends roots and culture through her art. She stands out in a diverse community as a multidisciplinary creator and philanthropist that strives to inspire positive change.
BanTOR Radio's Ola Mazzuca had a chat with Sonia about identity, upbringing, her fight to end sex trafficking in Africa and Italy, and spiritual guidance.
“Con i piedi per terra,” she says. “You are a servant to the earth through your art. Once you understand your purpose – you need to get your nia, your purpose. The spirit of the art leads and guides you. The work will speak for itself.”
