Audre Lorde - The Electric Slide Boogie

New Year's Day 1:16 AM and my body is weary beyond time to withdraw and rest ample room allowed me in everyone's head but community calls right over the threshold drums beating through the walls children playing their truck dramas under the collapsible coatrack in the narrow hallway outside my room The TV lounge next door is wide open it is midnight in Idaho and the throb easy subtle spin of the electric slide boogie step-stepping around the corner of the parlor past the sweet clink of dining room glasses and the edged aroma of slightly overdone dutch-apple pie all laced together with the rich dark laughter of Gloria and her higher-octave sisters How hard it is to sleep in the middle of life. MARCIA GRIFFITHS live @ Main Stage 2008

Nel corso degli anni ottanta registra gli albums ‘Rock my soul’ e ‘Love to the music’.

MARCIA GRIFFITHS live @ Main Stage 2010

Marcia Griffiths is one of greatest divas in reggae history: as a female artist at Studio One she produced some of the biggest singles in the labels history such as ‘Feel Like Jumping’, ‘Really Together’ and ‘Truly’. Her work on this legendary label was encapsulated in the magnificent album ‘At Studio One ‘. In addition to an excellent solo career, she continued working in Jamaica alongside producers like Harry Johnson and Sonia Pottinger. Marcia also had the privilege of accompanying Bob Marley on his great artistic adventure as a member of the I-Threes, the trio backing vocalists that constituted a very important part in the sound of the Wailers. In the 1980s she became hugely success with the single ‘Electric Boogie’ and during reggaes digital era working with Donovan Germain. Her show two years ago at the Festival demonstrated how fantastic her voice still sounds. 17* Rototom Sunsplash 2010 Peace, Love & Reggae Aug 21-28 Benicàssim Spain

THE SOUL SUPPORTERS performs the song "CHEATING ON YOU" for BalconyTV. Subscribe to us right now at 'Like' us on Facebook - Follow us on Twitter - PRESENTED BY JON RAY The Soul Supporters play early soul, R'n'B, and blues with a sparse rhythm section, stinging blues guitar, and breathtaking gospel and blues-tinged vocal harmonies. The band's equally formidable singers Lauren Cervantes and Angela Miller have picked up the legacy of Austin blues sirens like Lou Anne Barton, Angela Strehli, and Marcia Ball, and are more than making it their own with incredible harmony vocals that must be heard. Influenced by early R n'B artists like The Ikettes, Sugar Pie DeSanto, and Ruth Brown, the band is brewing its own non-commercialized concoction of "retro-soul" with a growing number of tradition-inspired originals and is flooring audiences everywhere they happen to play. Having grown up in a musical family, hearing her dad's gospel guitar along with the blues and soul-laden sounds of Houston, Texas, Lauren Cervantes owns songs as soon as soon as she takes the mic, and does justice to a wide variety of styles, from Etta James and Ruth Brown to Amy Winehouse. After leading choirs in central Texas churches for years, Angela Miller brings real-deal gospel fervor, precise harmony arrangements, and an authentic down-home Texas blues vocal style to the band. She's another musical success story of a deeply-rooted central Texas family that includes cousin Ruthie Foster. On electric bass, Ricky Rees of Lafayette, Louisiana, brings old school groove to the band honed by playing with Bayou State greats Lil' Buck Senegal, CC Adcock, The Bluerunners, Zydeco Joe Mouton, and the Red Stick Ramblers. Drummer Alberto Telo has kept time for Austin roots music greats including W.C. Handy-Award winner Nick Curan, Shaun Young, and too many killer rockabilly and blues acts to fit on one page. His journeyman mastery of American roots music, especially swing, 50s rockabilly, and Texas blues, pushes the band's rhythm with a very cool, straightforward old school feel. Pianist Massimo Gerosa has backed up living legends of American music across Europe, including Wanda Jackson, and also plays with Shaun Young's Blue Dots and JWW and the Prospectors. His heavy boogie woogie, classic sense of melody, and dead-on rhythmic feel sew up the band's sound like needle and thread. The band's ace guitarist, Scott Unzicker, of Fort Worth, Texas, has been bringing tasteful blues guitar to some of Austin's best blues and roots bands, like Erin Jaimes, Birdlegg, and Mike Milligan, for decades. With tasteful influences of minimalist Texan blues greats like his home town's favorite son, Anson Funderburgh, Scott brands the Soul Supporter's unpretentiously-retro sound with scorching blues solos and classic Stax-inspired soul rhythm. THE TRACY MCNEIL BAND - MELODY BREAKERS (BalconyTV) 'Like' us on Facebook - PRESENTED BY CASSIE WALKER BROUGH TO YOU BY PRINCE BANDROOM - MISCREANT RECORDINGS - Canadian singer songwriter Tracy McNeil moved to Melbourne in 2007 with only her suitcase and her acclaimed debut album Room Where She Lives, just three short days after its release in Canada. Recorded in Toronto with the love, support and musical input of her brother Logan, the album proved a classic debut, brimming with authentic country and roots songs born of a nation that has a long and distinguished history of producing such talented artists. Moving to Melbourne was something of a risk, but it paid off almost immediately. Tracy worked hard, playing solo shows all across the formidable musical city that is Melbourne, gaining the respect of her peers and critics alike, along with an ever growing fan base. She quickly became an integral part of the Melbourne music scene. Something of a masterstroke started out in the most humble of ways when Tracy joined local singer songwriter Jordie Lane to form Fireside Bellows. The release of No Time To Die, a stunning album on all fronts, came in 2008. Showcasing their obvious musical chemistry and developing on a variety of influences, No Time To Die honours a mutual love for American roots music whilst staying true to the talents both artists have as individual musicians. The album, and the duo, rightly received rave reviews throughout Australia. After a sold out launch in Melbourne, Fireside Bellows hit the road, playing festivals including the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Boogie, the Brunswick Music Festival and Queenscliff, before supporting the Eilen Jewell Band and their heroes Old Crow Medicine Show at the Forum. After that long and successful run with Fireside Bellows, Tracy returned to her solo material with a pocket full of songs and a stellar band featuring Matt Green (electric/slide guitar, mandolin), Bree Hartley (drums) and Rod Boothroyd (double bass). The band has been honing their sound over the past eighteen months with a run of headline shows throughout Melbourne and supporting international artists Mary Gauthier, Tony Joe White and Australian sweethearts The Audreys. With three years past since the release of Room Where She Lives, Tracy felt a follow up record was long overdue. In January 2010, the band headed into Tender Trap Studios in Northcote to record what would become her sophomore album Fire from Burning. Tracy launched Fire From Burning at the Bella Union in Trades Hall on June 11th, 2011. TUNE IN AGAIN TO BALCONYTV MELBOURNE!!!

Ska Vengers performs 'Double X' LIVE on BalconyTV Subscribe to us right now at - 'Like' us on Facebook - Follow us on Twitter - SKA VENGERS - DOUBLE X PRESENTED BY PRAGYA TIWARI The Ska Vengers is a new Delhi based band who blend 'ska' rhythms with elements of dub, punk, jazz and rap to come up with a form of music that is refreshingly different, energetic and highly danceable. Keys man, Stefan Kaye rounded up a few of his musician friends to form the band in the fall of 2009. The band was put together since there was a lack of energetic, harder edged dance based live music in India. All members are highly experienced performers in their own right. Nikhil, Stefan and Tony play also in both post rock/disco group Emperor Minge and theatrical jazz outfit The Jass B'stards . They are regular performers on India's first touring cabaret show 'The Stiff Kittens' Medicine Show'. Samara is also an actor and equally well known as a TV presenter on NDTV Good Times. Delhi Sultanate has garnered much praise for his highly skilled, socially conscious rap with drum 'n' bass team BASSFoundation and also his own project Word, Sound, Power. Raghav is also known as selecta with DJ collective 'Reggae Rajahs'. Various members have either won or been nominated for Jack Daniels Rock Awards in keyboards, bass, drums and vocals categories for their work with the band. Stefan picked up his award last year for Indian keyboard player for the third consecutive year. Tony this year won best bassist of the year. The Ska Vengers were this year nominated in best band and best album category. The Ska Vengers play very much for the moment as carefully worked out structures are at times elongated and receive dub treatment and Delhi Sultanate's unique and highly rhythmic patois provides a suitable foil to Samara's full throttle vocal delivery. They add their unique take on songs from reggae and soul legends such as Lee Scratch Perry, Betty Harris, Marcia Griffiths and when reworking classics from the likes of Velvet Underground, The Clash and even RD Burman. However it is their own highly dance oriented originals which are getting plaudits from critics and feet moving with fans. The band completed their first album at the end of 2011 and released it officially in December 2012. It was mixed by acclaimed UK based music producer and winner of last year's JD Rock Award for best Indian producer, Miti Adhikari (Radiohead, Coldplay, Foo Fighters as well as India's Menwhopause, Supersonics and Them Clones). In just a few weeks following its release the album has become a landmark in the Indian music scene since it is the first home-grown full length album devoted to ska and reggae genres with all live instrumentation. Physical copies were produced independently on Stiff Kittens Records, and Times Music are handling online sales. The album has this year been nominated as best album of the year for JD Rock Awards. In April 2012 the band staged the largest rock concert to be held in an Indian prison, performing for 2000 prisoners at Asia's largest jail, Tihar. The group managed to donate $5000 worth of musical and sound equipment to the music wards of the jail. The event was picked up by international media and covered extensively in The New York Times, BBC World Service, China Post, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, Arab News and many others. An Oijo! Queen Ifrica - Mi Nah Rub
