At least 14 people have been injured after a gas explosion at the Hyatt Regency’s The Churchill hotel in London, ambulance officials say. Police said the explosion occurred in the kitchen area of the hotel on Portman Square just before midnight on Saturday. The hotel was evacuated following the explosion. At the height of the incident, about 500 guests were evacuated. London Fire Brigade said the explosion happened around 11:40 p.m. in the basement of the hotel, causing part of the building to collapse. Dennis Luwer, who lives across from the hotel, said a hole was blown in the side of the building about two meters high and a meter wide. Five hotel staff were injured and taken to the hospital, including two with leg injuries. Another nine people were treated for injuries at the scene. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Gas leak explosion: Argentina building blast kills 12, injures dozens

Originally published on August 7, 2013 At least 12 people were killed and more than 60 were injured when an explosion ripped through an apartment building in downtown Rosario, Argentina on Tuesday morning. Officials say the blast, which took place at around 9:45 a.m., was most likely caused by a natural gas leak. According to Municipal Health Secretary Leonardo Caruana, two of those killed were a young man and woman, and three of the injured are in critical condition. However, no other information about the victims was made public. Some 15 people are still unaccounted for, according to La Nacion. The explosion caused the front and back sides of the building to crumble, exposing shattered apartments inside the structure while sending bricks, glass and cement into the street. A fire that took firefighters at least three hours to extinguish trapped residents on the top few floors of the building. Rescue crews worked from above and below to pull people to safety from balconies and windows. Surrounding buildings were also damaged by the shock wave and debris. A huge plume of smoke was seen rising over the city. The blast was so violent authorities evacuated buildings and schools within a five-block radius of the blast site, fearing a collapse. At least 11 schools were evacuated. Litoral Gas company, which supplies areas of the city with natural gas, cut off gas flow to most of the downtown Rosario area while rescue efforts were underway. Security Secretary Sergio Berni deployed border police and coast guard to help local authorities with the rescue effort. -------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your daily source for top animated news. Mexico City gas explosion: blast at maternity hospital kills 2, injures dozens of children, mothers

Rescue teams in Mexico City are searching for additional victims in the rubble of a maternity hospital where a gas leak caused a massive explosion Thursday morning. Mexico City Mayor Miguel Mancera said at least two people -- a woman and a child -- died in the blast. Early reports put the death toll at seven, but Mancera revised that number Thursday afternoon. A spokesperson for Mancera said 37 injuries had been reported. Other outlets reported the number of victims to be as high as 62. The explosion occurred around 7:15 Thursday morning at the Hospital Materno Infantil (maternity and children’s hospital) in the Cuajimalpa region in western Mexico City. A gas truck from Gas Express Nieto was supplying fuel to the hospital through a hose when part of the hose ruptured, leading to a gas leak. “They tried to stop the leak, but it was not possible,” Mancera said. A massive explosion demolished the back half of the truck and flattened about 30 percent of the hospital. Mancera said rescue teams are concerned the rest of the could collapse before they finish searching the rubble for additional victims. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Alabama gas barge blast leaves three injured

Three people were injured on Wednesday evening in Mobile, Alabama, after two barges loaded with natural gas exploded and caught fire. According to reports, the first blast happened at around 8:30 pm on a barge near the George C. Wallace traffic tunnel, which carries traffic from Interstate 10 under the Mobile River. A one-nautical-mile safety zone has been established around one of the barges. According to Fox10 TV, the explosion occurred while crews were conducting a cleaning operation. The injured people are in critical condition at the USA Medical Center. Fire department spokesman Steve Huffman did not describe the severity of their injuries, CNN reported. There were at least three explosions tied to the incident, Mobile Fire-Rescue noted around 9:30 pm on Twitter. Multiple explosions occurred throughout the night. According to Fox10 TV, after closing the shipping channel, officials with Mobile Fire-Rescue said they would let the fire burn out on its own to prevent further injuries. According to reports, the initial explosion was sparked by a static charge. LUDICROUS DIVERSION: 7-7 LONDON BOMBING 2 OF 2

LUDICROUS DIVERSION: 7-7 LONDON BOMBING PART 2 OF 2 The 7 July 2005 London Bombings were a series of coordinated terrorist bomb blasts that hit London's public transport system during the morning rush hour. At 8:50 a.m., three bombs exploded within fifty seconds of each other on three London Underground trains. A fourth bomb exploded on a bus nearly an hour later at 9:47 a.m. in Tavistock Square. The bombings killed 52 commuters and the four suicide bombers, injured 700, and caused a severe day-long disruption of the city's transport and mobile telecommunications infrastructure. The 2005 attack featured the most explosions in a single terrorist incident in a UK city since Bloody Friday in Belfast in July 1972 (22 bombs planted). They were the world's deadliest attack on a public transport system since the Madrid train bombings of 11 March 2004 (191 dead), although the March 1995 Sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway injured far more people. The 2005 attacks were the first terrorist (i.e. politically motivated) killings in London since 30 April 1999, when the neo-Nazi David Copeland nailbombed the Admiral Duncan pub in Soho in a homophobic attack, killing three people. They were also the first suicide bombings ever carried out anywhere in Western Europe.

Reports say the blast occurred on a high-pressure gas pipe, part of a local pipeline that was being modernized. The existing pipeline was probably damaged while the new pipeline was being installed next to it. However, although the damaged pipeline was closed, remaining gas trapped inside flowed out and burned, causing a fire. There was no gas in the new pipeline that was being laid into the ground. Several houses and the forest caught fire, with local residents saying people ran out of their houses crying. Some of those injured are in critical condition. Some of the wounded also included children. -------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your daily source for top animated news. Three in hospital as gas blast hits OAP's flats

Three people have been taken to hospital following a gas explosion at a flats complex for elderly people on Sunday. The three, who were not injured, were suffering from shock. Police, the fire service, paramedics, and utilities engineers are working to discover the cause of the blast at the two-storey building in the Chapel Street area of Bentley, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire at 6.55am. Residents of 14 ground and first floor flats were evacuated from the building and are being cared for at a nearby pub. A team of engineers will assess the structural integrity of the building before deciding whether they can return or will require council accommodation. A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Thankfully there are no reports of serious injuries and three persons have been conveyed to Doncaster Royal Infirmary suffering the effects of shock. "Other residents of the flats have been evacuated and are being cared for at a nearby public house whilst utility services at the scene work to identify and rectify the cause. "The fire service, gas and electricity board are all on the scene and everything is in hand."

Shocking natural-gas explosion in Taipei, Taiwan kills one, injures 14

Click here for the full version: http://bit.ly/1mZWSgz An explosion caused by a gas leak in a Taipei suburb on Friday killed at least one child and injured 14 other people, in Taiwan’s second fatal gas explosion in two weeks. The explosion took place at 11:46 a.m. on the third floor of a residential building in the Xindian District of New Taipei City, shattering glass in nearby stores and sending debris flying several meters away. Residents living in the building told Taiwan’s Apple Daily newspaper that they smelled gas on Thursday afternoon and notified a building administrator. Gas company Shin Shin Natural Gas dispatched an employee who smelled gas coming from the elevator but did not conduct a thorough exam. The Apple Daily said Shin Shin confirmed that the blast was caused by a gas leak. The source of explosion is believed to have been in the master bedroom of the third-floor apartment. A firefighter surname Chang told the Apple Daily he heard two children crying for their mother in the kitchen when he was searching for survivors in the apartment where the explosion took place. He returned to the scene and rescued a 2-and-a-half-year-old girl before returning to try to save her 16-month-old brother, who had no pulse. Chang said he was unable to carry both children out at the same time because the entrance to the kitchen was blocked. The boy died. The girl and her grandmother suffered second and third degree burns. The Apple Daily reported that the New Taipei City fire department said a hot plate was found turned on in the apartment’s kitchen. The building’s gas supply has been turned off. The cause of the explosion was still under investigation. A series of powerful gas explosions on July 31 killed 30 people and injured more than 300 people in the southern city of Kaohsiung. The Kaohsiung city government has blamed LCY Chemical Corp. for the blasts, which it says may have been caused by about 10 tonnes of propene that may have leaked from the company
