These five stories are from Project WHAT! youth who were interviewed and are telling their personal stories about parental incarceration. The project is called "I Am Not My Parent's Mistake: Stories from Children with Incarcerated Parents"
In the U.S. today, there are over 2.7 million children of incarcerated parents. It's shown to be one of the most adverse childhood experiences but there's one organization in Oakland that is bringing these youth together to advocate on behalf of themselves and their families. These are some of their stories.
